Giant Adventure Production Update: October 2023

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

I hope September treated everyone well. Let's jump into it!

I know this was my headline 6 weeks ago and I sincerely apologize for the delay. As you might imagine creating a giant game comes with some surprises that are difficult to forecast. There were two causes for this most recent (and final!) delay:

• The games were too big for the manufacturer's shrink wrap machines! This meant that they had to wrap and seal each game by hand. 

• When manufacturing board games the games are placed in cartons for shipping purposes. I have had carton sizes of 4 games, 12 games and 16 games. The carton size for Giant Adventure is 2. Plus, to ensure the safety of the games each carton of 2 games was then placed in a second carton to add an extra layer of protection. This required a lot of cartons and outer cartons to be made and packaged, which took more time than expected.

The good news is that everything is 100% finished. Everything! The games are packed, sealed and cartoned up and waiting to be picked up and placed on boats headed to the US, Europe and Australia. The bad news is that we are currently in the middle of a Chinese Holiday that ends on 10/7. The games will ship ASAP once the Holiday has concluded.

Updated Fulfillment Estimate

With a ship date of mid-October that puts our realistic fulfillment to backers in early-December. Assuming we do not run into any unexpected shipping delays we should be able to ship your pledges with plenty of time to arrive by Christmas. 

Once again, I do apologize for the missed fulfillment window from our original date of September 2023. I greatly appreciate your continued support of The Quest Kids and I will be in touch in a couple weeks once the ships are on the water and we have dock dates at the three ports. Have a great week!

Giant Adventure Production Update: August 2023

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

Summer is over! I hope you and yours had an amazing summer season. School starts this week for our three kiddos and they will all be in the same school for the first time (we'll see how that goes).  

I have quite a few exciting things to quickly discuss, so let's dive in:

Production on The Quest Kids: Giant Adventure is very close to being completed. However, we have had a few delays that have pushed our ship date about 6 weeks from our original target. 

The first was the 5th Player Expansion we discussed last update (the treasure tokens were printed a different size than the base game). The other delay has to do with the initial process our manufacturer was using to create the giant Dungeon Tiles. A bit of trial and error was required to reach a quality level that we are all very happy with. 

Rest assured that both of these issues have been resolved, but they have pushed our completion date to the end of August. We'll then need about 6 weeks at sea/customs, which puts our new fulfillment target at late October/early November. 

Giant Adventure at Gen Con!

Treasure Falls Games had a booth at Gen Con this year! This was my first time attending Gen Con and it was an exhausting blast. We told a ton of people about our games, sold out of The Quest Kids base game on the last day and hosted 5 sold out play sessions of Giant Adventure. I even met a few backers from this campaign! 

We have already signed up to exhibit again next year, so if you are there we'd love for you to swing by and say hi. 

Locking Orders This Week (Wednesday, 8/16/2023)

With the production process soon coming to a close we need to lock orders for the campaign.  The last day to make final updates to your Giant Adventure pledge is Wednesday, 8/16.  After this date, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on item purchases, pledge upgrades, late-pledges and shipping.

Don't worry - you can still update your shipping address until we lock addresses for shipping in October 2023.

If you need to review your information or pledge status (or wish to add additional items), you can return to your survey by clicking the  link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://the-quest-kids-giant-adventure.backerkit.com

If you haven't filled out your survey and you miss the deadline you can still submit your information, however your shipment may be delayed.

The ability to late-pledge will remain open for a bit longer, however the available inventory outside of the US is limited.

Giant Adventure Production Update: June 2023

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer thus far! Here's a quick update on the manufacturing of The Quest Kids: Giant Adventure:

All tokens are printed!

All of the Treasure, Ability, Star and Kind Kid Tokens have been printed. We also have all of the player bags at the factory as well. 

Also, the rules are printed!

What is left to do?

The remaining items to be printed are the game box, game tiles and the 5th Player Expansion packs. We actually already printed the 5th Player Expansion packs once, but there was a mistake at the factory and they were printed too small. They are being remade right now. 

Backerkit

We still have around 100 surveys that need to be completed in BackerKit. You can CLICK HERE to read our last update with all of the information around our pledge manager. As a reminder any add-ons you added for The Quest Kids tabletop games will be included with your Giant Adventure shipment later this year.

I hope all has been well! Our pledge manager through BackerKit is now open and surveys are headed  your way!

HERE'S HOW IT WILL WORK:

Soon you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we must have this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey.  When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide  shipping information, purchase add-on items and pay for shipping. 

You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email! I will provide an update here when all of the  surveys have been sent and provide assistance to anyone who is missing the email. All surveys should be sent by Friday, April 14th.

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses or address at any time before we close the surveys to get our final counts.

For Backers who purchased our tabletop games (The Quest Kids, Trials of Tolk the Wise or Big Bads of Tolk's Cave) during the campaign. 

These games should already be in your cart and already paid for when you logon to your survey. Please note that shipping for add-ons was NOT included in the initial add-on price. These games will ship very soon (April/May 2023). However, please note that if you also purchased Giant Adventure your card will be charged NOW for the shipping fees for BOTH shipments (tabletop games in April 2023 and Giant Adventure in September 2023). Your card will NOT be charged again later this year when Giant Adventure ships. Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. 

We've added new add-ons to the pledge manager!

We have added some of our most popular add-ons from previous campaigns to the pledge manager. Please note that all of these add-ons are for the tabletop games (not Giant Adventure). Also, these add-ons are only available to North American, UK and EU backers and will ship in September 2023. 

Can I still add a tabletop game to my pledge and have it ship now?

Yes! Simply add it to your pledge. However, please note that these games are only available to North American, UK and EU backers. Also, as mentioned previously you will be charged for all shipping fees now (add-ons and Giant Adventure).  

BackerKit FAQ

1. It is late-April 2023 and I didn’t get my BackerKit email invite. What do I do?

The easiest thing to do is resend your invite to yourself! Just go here: https://the-quest-kids-giant-adventure.backerkit.com,   enter your Kickstarter email address, and click on the "Get My Survey"  button. You will be sent a new email with a link to your account.  Please remember: all surveys will not be sent until Friday, 4/14.

2. I forgot my BackerKit password. How do I get it?

Just go here: https://the-quest-kids-giant-adventure.backerkit.com,   enter your Kickstarter email address, and click on the "Get  My  Survey" button. You will be sent a new email with a link to your account.

3. I want to sign back into https://the-quest-kids-giant-adventure.backerkit.com, but I don’t remember the email I used for my account. How do I get it?

It should be your Kickstarter account email. If that doesn’t work, please email [email protected] and they will help you.

4. I have a question about BackerKit that isn’t covered here. What do I do?

We did it! Our next quest now begins...

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

Wow! What an exciting end to our adventure. We ended this quest with 1,012 heroes in our party from 38 different countries! We achieved a glorious 538% of our goal!

Our purpose at Treasure Falls Games has always been to create high-quality fantasy games for families to enjoy together. Thank you for allowing us to continue doing just that with The Quest Kids: Giant Adventure.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Usually, at the end of a campaign I would say that I will begin providing monthly production updates to communicate my progress on finalizing the game. However, The Quest Kids: Giant Adventure is 100% completed and all files have already been sent to the manufacturer. In fact, I submitted my final order this morning once I was able to confidently predict where the final backer count would land. 

I will absolutely still be providing updates, but they will be around the manufacturing process and milestones. At this point, achieving our September 2023 fulfillment date for Giant Adventure looks very likely. 

 ADD-ON SHIPPING (APRIL 2023)

I will also be in-touch next week with those who added on The Quest Kids, Trials of Tolk the Wise and/or Big Bads of Tolk's Cave with a timeline and next steps for the pledge manager (the process that will allow you to finalize your order and confirm your address/pay for shipping). These games will ship very soon (April 2023).
